Multiplayer Introduction

The Multiplayer plugin can be used to build a complete multiplayer game with GBs using the Player.IO (now Yahoo Games Network) service as a backend. Player.IO provides a number of cloud based services for your game and this plugin supports the main ones currently. The Multiplayer service, QuickConnect Simple Users service, and BigDB data storage service. These are the three major components to setting up a multiplayer game. You need a way to connect players to the same game and communicate back and forth, you also need a way to register players for your game and give them a login, and you need a way to store persistent data remotely to a database.

The multiplayer service facilitates communication between connected players. It allows you to upload custom server side game code and manages creating the multiplayer rooms.

Currently this plugin supports the simple user registration and login portion of the QuickConnect service. In the future we may build in the ability to log in players via Facebook or Kongregate.

BigDB - Data Storage

BigDB - Data Storage

The BigDB service is a noSQL structure database. Which essentially means there is no structure defined ahead of time like a traditional SQL relation database. This allows you to save any structure of data to a database. The data storage action provided in this plugin just needs the name of the database table and a key to store a value under.
